Mission Statement

To provide quality Emergency Medical Services to all patients encountered. This service will be rendered regardless of the patient’s race, creed, sex, nationality or their ability to pay.

History

Penns Valley Emergency Medical Services, Inc. (PVEMS) is the 1998 consolidation of East Centre Ambulance Association (ECAA) and Centre Hall Potter Ambulance (CHPA). ECAA served the Eastern half of Penns Valley and Brush Valley from Brush Mountain Road in Gregg Township East to the Union County and Clinton County lines. CHPA served the Western half of Penns Valley and Brush Valley from Brush Mountain Road to the Harris Township line to the East, Spring Township line to the South, and Mifflin County line to the North. Today PVEMS serves the entire territory of the two former ambulance services.

When faced with a declining volunteer base, PVEMS contracted with Evangelical Hospital to provide manpower support on one of our Basic Life Support units twelve hours per day, 365 days per year. This support consists of two Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) to staff one of our ambulances during daylight hours.

As of March 24, 2007 Evangelical Community Hospital no longer serves Penns Valley with Advanced Life Support (ALS), which consisted of a Paramedic and was known as Medic 21. This will not affect the service that PVEMS provides to you. When you call 9-1-1 for an ambulance, the volunteer EMTs and first responders of PVEMS will respond to you as we have for over 30 years. When necessary ALS from either, Mount Nittany Medical Center or Centre LifeLink EMS, both located in State College, will provide you with advanced life support care.
